A tennis academy is set to open in Burundi next year under a Burundian International tennis coach Assani Murisho in efforts to develop young talents in the country.
“The Tennis Academy aims to drive players to a higher level and start competing and winning the national and international tournaments,” said Mr. Murisho.
The Academy will be named Assani Tennis Academy (ATA) after its founder and expected to engage sport community which is already backed by Burundi Tennis Federation (FTB).
“We are still waiting for better facilities because the number of courts are not sufficient,” said the Tennis coach.
In Bujumbura there are less than 20 courts for both young and adults at “entente sportive” as the FTB is said to have many young players but lack enough space for training.
“Normally in one tennis court we can create six courts for under 10 players because they play closer to each other now we are aiming to take players to grand slam tournaments,” said Assani Murisho.
Mr. Murisho who is known to have coached some of the most talented Burundian tennis players like Hassan Ndayishimiye who played junior wimbledon, Sada Nahimana played grand slams and Guy Orly Iradukunda the current burundian world top player.
