At Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi Kenya,William Samoei Ruto was sworn in as the country’s new president a month after he was declared as the president-elect by the country’s Independent Electoral Commission.
During his maiden Speech at Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani as the 5th president of Kenya, William Ruto assured all Kenyans that his support to the citizens.
“We should remain conscious that we have been elected to work together and ensure that our children go to school, our people have food and decent healthcare, our young people have jobs and our workers have dignified livelihoods. so we believe every hustle matters,” he said.
In front of foreign heads of states, and Kenyan citizens, president Ruto indicated that he is a living testimony that with faith in God, willingness to work hard and a commitment to their vision dreams become reality in the fullness of time.
“I promise to throw open every door of opportunity and to keep every door open until success stories become the norm rather than the exception.”
“I urge all other leaders to do the same so that we can together expand the opportunity and chance for many of our citizens.”
Kenyan president was to be sworn in 14 days after the August 15, 2022 declaration but within a week a 72 page petition was filed to challenge the election of the president elect by his competitor Raila Odinga.
On September 5th, Kenya’s Supreme Court unanimously upheld Ruto’s Victory in a judgment which swept away the veteran opposition Raila Odinga’s call to nullify the Electoral Commission declaration.
Among the high dignitaries that attended the Swearing in of the Kenyan president included Burundi’s president Evariste Ndayishimiye, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, Paul Kagame and DRC’s Felix Tshisekedi.
