While addressing a press conference in Mugoboka held on Tuesday November 23rd, the undisputed candidate for the position of the president of the Burundi Football Federation (FFB) Alexandre Muyenge vowed to mobilize more sponsorships to promote the country’s local football league and raise the winner’s prize from 30 million Burundi francs to 50 million towards the end of his tenure.
“What we need is finances because if we are not financially stable an evolution is far from being a guarantee because we would always remain blocked and would remain at the embryonic stage of having several projects at the same time not implemented, “said Alexandre Muyenge.
While in Bujumbura Alexandre Muyenge who is also a police commissioner said that the national league has undergone a significant evolution despite not being at the stage he aspires.
“Currently the main sponsor is Brarudi, but know that the contract will end at the end of this season. This is why we must mobilize other sponsors in case Brarudi does not decide to renew and improve the terms of the contract,” said the commissioner.
During this season which is in its 13th week, the main sponsor Brarudi has added 70 million Burundi francs topping up on the 250 million francs.
The incoming FFB president who is expected to take over the office for a four year term he will be increasing the winner’s prize from 25 million last season and gradually until 50 million Burundi francs.
The FFB undisputed candidate who happens to have no challenger in the upcoming elections slated for December 5th,2021 vowed to support and develop women’s football as the privilege of football bodies including FIFA and CAF.
