Ahead of general elections slated for this May 20, 2020 the Public Security minister Alain Guillaume Bunyoni warned political party leaders and supporters to refrain from anything that may jeopardise the electoral process.
In a statement Alain Guillaume Bunyoni accused National Congress for Liberty (CNL) and UPRONA of inciting their militants to gather around polling stations.
“The minister of security forewarns anyone who will thwart the disruption of the security of the elections in Burundi”, the statement reads.
“The police and its security partners have been ordered not to tolerate any form of interference.”
Agathon Rwasa refuted while campaigning any intention to distort elections and accused ruling party CNDD-FDD of harassing its members and intimidating the members.

The presidential, parliamentary and communal advisors elections will be held this Wednesday countrywide, electing senators is scheduled on July 20.
In addition, the stepping president to be voted will be enthrone on August 20,2020 which is set to be the inauguration of the presidency of the republic of Burundi.
