Burundi Football Federation (FFB) announced last Saturday May 9th 2020 that the Primus League will resume after more than three weeks of suspension due to the elections and campaigns that will see a new country’s president will be elected.
“Primus League will restart on May 21 2020 while the presidential cup or National Cup is scheduled to restart on May 23,” said Yussuf Mossi in a statement.
Messager Ngozi sits on the top of the Primus league table with 55 points followed by Musongati with 51 points, there are 16 teams in the Primus league first division.
Three teams are in the relegation zone including Lydia Lydic Burundi (14th) with 29 points, Ngozi City (15th) 22 points and Les Lierres rocking the bottom of the table with 20 points.
Earlier on the FFB President Reverien Ndikuriyo declared that football matches were suspended due to the electoral campaigns and that the stadiums would be occupied by the rallies.
Eight matches will be played every match day at the same time in different stadiums.
